Miccosukee Tribe Celebrates Opening of New MICCO Way Traffic Signal Enhancing Safety and Community Access

Miami, FL – December 4, 2025 — The Miccosukee Tribe of Indians of Florida will host a ribboncutting ceremony on Thursday, December 18, at 11a to officially commemorate the opening of the new MICCO Way Traffic Signal located at the entrance of Miccosukee Casino & Resort at 500 SW 177th Ave, Miami, FL 33194.

The newly installed traffic light marks a major milestone in the Tribe’s continued investment in improving roadway safety and infrastructure along this busy Everglades corridor. Designed to enhance traffic flow and provide safer access for guests, team members, residents, and daily commuters, the project underscores the Tribe’s long-standing commitment to community wellbeing.

“This traffic signal represents another important step in prioritizing the safety and convenience of everyone who travels through our lands,” said Chairman Talbert Cypress of the Miccosukee Tribe of Indians of Florida. “We’re proud to strengthen accessibility while reducing risks along one of our most heavily traveled routes.”

The signal installation is fully funded by the Miccosukee Tribe and reflects a strategic enhancement to support the increasing volume of vehicles entering and exiting the resort property. This improvement is expected to reduce collision risks, ease congestion during peak hours, and provide long-term benefits for all who rely on this vital roadway.
